Learn how Symrise’s approach in Design of Experiments leads to understanding of complex processes and targeted formulation development.

It’s important for new scents and flavors to be developed and tested quickly to ensure they reach the market swiftly. It’s equally important for experiments to be easily replicable, both in scale and in formulation. In this webinar, we share how Symrise uses Design of Experiments (DoE) and visualization in JMP to improve process understanding and to arrive at the right product formulation earlier.

Symrise uses adapted Definitive Screening Designs (DSD) in JMP to boost the speed of experiments and reduce time to market.

In this webinar you will learn how you can use DoE and modelling techniques to:

  • Create improved process understanding
  • Achieve faster and more targeted experimental product development
  • Help subject matter experts to make decisions based on data

Speakers

Speaker:  Egon Gross

Engineer, Biotechnology

Egon Gross, an engineer in biotechnology, works in the research & technology department of Symrise AG, a global company in the flavor and fragrance business. During the past 18 years his focus has been on process development and improvement of microbial fermentation processes from lab to production scale. Over the past seven years he has utilized Design of Experiments (DoE) principles as often as possible to speed up development tasks and to obtain more insight into the systems of interest. Additionally, Gross supports colleagues from other R&D departments with multivariate data analysis to gather as much meaningful information as possible from historic and unstructured data prior to subsequent DoE experiments.

Speaker: Florian Vogt

JMP Systems Engineer, SAS

Florian Vogt is a Systems Engineer for JMP, where he supports sales and customer development across the DACH region. Prior to joining JMP, Vogt worked in process engineering for Südzucker AG and BASF. He holds an MS in Biotechnology from Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.

Moderator: Benjamin Valsler

Digital Editor, Chemistry World

Ben Valsler is the digital editor of Chemistry World magazine, producing video and podcasts to accompany the magazine and website. Prior to joining the Royal Society of Chemistry, he was the producer of the award-winning Naked Scientists, making local and national radio programmes for the BBC, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Primedia in South Africa.
