Do I need to be affiliated with a university to get and use JMP® Student Edition?
Yes, you must be affiliated with a university to get and use JMP® Student Edition as either an enrolled student or an academic employee of the university.
Do I need to use an email address from my academic institution?
Yes, your academic email address is necessary to gain access to your license
Can JMP® Student Edition be deployed in labs and computer classrooms?
Yes.
However, each user must obtain authorization to use the software before the course by following and completing the process explained in the step-by-step guide.
Steps:
1) Obtain Installation Files:
The IT manager will find the installers of JMP Student Edition for Windows and Macintosh at https://my.jmp.com/jmpportal/s/download-jmp-student-edition. The creation of a free My.JMP profile is required.
2) Install on Lab PCs:
- Individual Installation: The IT manager installs JMP Student Edition on each lab PC.
- Image Deployment: If using an image, the IT manager creates a base image with JMP Student Edition installed and deploys it to all lab PCs.
3) Prior to Course
Ensure that all users have obtained a JMP Student Edition license and have the necessary authorization to use the software.
4) Usage:
- Course Day: Users launch JMP Student Edition on their assigned lab PCs.
- Login: The software prompts for an authorized email address. Students enter the email address used to obtain their license, receive a validation code, and enter the code in JMP. The software will start running, and users can begin their work.
5) Post-Course:
- Uninstall or Leave: The software can be uninstalled from the lab PCs or left installed for future use.
- Future Usage: If left installed, future users will need to have an authorized email address to run the software.
Reminder for Home Use:
- Student Installation: After obtaining authorization, students can install JMP Student Edition on their personal devices.
- Continued Work: Students can then use the software at home to complete assignments and projects.

Why do I need to create an account?
The creation of a free My.JMP account is essential to be able to access new versions of the software and to renew the license.
Which types of data is JMP receiving from users?
JMP receives the following data: University name, course name, user name, e-mail, city, state, zip, and country. This information is required for government-mandated RPS (Restricted Party Screening).
What is the purpose of restricted party screening (RPS)?
Restricted Party Screening seek to identify parties that may be prohibited from receiving some or all items subject to export control regulations. The screening is required so that JMP does not do business with embargoed countries, companies, entities or users that JMP is restricted from doing business with.
Why do I get a message "Unable to process the order due to applicable export laws"?
Everyone creating a My JMP ID is subject to screening for applicable export restrictions regardless of country. This is a part of JMP's process for ensuring we stay compliant with US Government regulations.
