Rules for Paths
Acceptable Characters
Paths can consist of:
• | letters: A-Z a-z |
• | numbers: 0-9 |
• | spaces (blanks) |
• | special: ~ @ # ( ) - _ + . , = / \ : $ % |
Caution: You should assume that characters not listed above are potentially problematic. Use them at your own risk.
Unacceptable Characters
The following characters have been verified as unacceptable:
• | special: ‘ ! ^ & * [ ] { } | ; ’ “ < > ? |
Path Length
Navigation paths to specified files or folders can contain no more than 245 total characters. For example, the path to the Public folder on the C: drive of a typical computer, C:\Public\, contains 10 characters.
