Consider BY variables in the analysis

Check this box to consider xxCAT, xxSCAT, xxLOC, xxMETHOD, xxPOS, xxSPEC, and xxTPT as BY variables for the analysis.

For example, if xxPOS was available to distinguish eye (OD or OS, right or left) in an ophthalmology study, this box should be checked.

Uncheck this box to ignore these variables when the BY variables are not a design feature, for example, when the arm that the blood pressure was taken from is not particularly relevant to the analysis.

For Duplicate Records only:

If this box is checked, columns containing the BY Variables are placed into distinct columns. In this case, only those tests that have values for the BY Variables will contain values. For example, suppose that in the VS data there is a VSLOC BY variable that applies only to Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) and Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP), (VSLOC is populated with STANDING and SUPINE for SBP and DBP), but does not apply to temperature. In this case, the data for SBP and DBP are transposed by the value in VSLOC, but the temperature data is not. This difference effectively separates the data: those records that have SBP and DBP values won’t have TEMP values, and those that have TEMP values won’t have SBP and DBP values. Therefore, when JMP Clinical looks for duplicates, it doesn't find duplicates for all three. It will see duplicated values for SBP and DBP and then, separately, for TEMP.

If this box is not checked, the BY variable (test qualifier) values are merged into the appropriate test name prior to transposing the data. The resulting SBP STANDING, SBP SUPINE, DBP Standing, DBP Supine, TEMP columns all should have values and can all be compared.
