Category Variables

Specify character variables containing annotation categories. These variables are often obtained from an ontology hierarchy like the Gene Ontology (GO) or from lists of pathways. Note the following:

•

Multiple categories within a value must be separated by one or two common delimiters.

•

If a row has a blank value for this variable, then that row is excluded from the analysis for that set of annotation categories.

•

If these variables are not in the {link}{Emphasis}Input SAS Data Set, then you must specify them in the {link}{Emphasis}Annotation SAS Data Set on the Annotation tab.

To Specify Category Variables:

Specify an {link}{Emphasis}Input SAS Data Set.

The Available Variables field is populated with variables from the specified data set.

Highlight a single variable, or hold down Ctrl while left-clicking on multiple variables, from the Available Variables field.

Click to add the selected variable(s) to the Category Variables field.
