Process Description

NEXUS Input Engine

NEXUS is an expandable, modular file format originally designed for use by a variety of computer programs (Madison, et al., 1997). It is used to store and analyze systematic data, such as genetic marker data. Although JMP Genomics is unable to access this file format directly, you can use the NEXUS Input Engine to import genetic marker data from the NEXUS format to generate two SAS data sets. One data set contains the raw marker data; the second lists the names of or other information about the markers.

What do I need?

One NEXUS-formatted file.

The threepops.nex file (not shown) is located in the Sample Data\Genetics directory included with JMP Genomics, and serves as an example.

For detailed information about the files and data sets used or created by JMP Genomics software, see Files and Data Sets.

Output/Results

The output data sets generated by this process are listed in a Results window. Refer to the NEXUS Input Engine output documentation for detailed descriptions.
