SAS Data Set Utilities

Subcategory	Contains processes for...	Input data requirement1Following the import of data (an Experimental Design File (EDF) is sometimes required), Tall and Wide Data Sets (which are SAS Data Sets) are the most common primary Input Data Sets required throughout JMP Genomics. Less common are stacked, square, and other specialized varieties. (See Other Types of Data Sets.) In many cases, an additional Experimental Design Data Set (EDDS), Annotation Data Set, or settings file is either specifiable or required. See Data Sets Used in JMP Genomics Processes and the documentation for individual processes for additional information.
Tables	Displaying detailed contents and attributes of a SAS data set, and appending, merging, subsetting, stacking, unstacking, and transposing SAS data sets. An additional process enables you to access the SAS DATA step routine.	One or two SAS data sets, depending on the process. A few require an Experimental Design Data Set (EDDS).
Rows	Ranking, sorting, and computing statistics for rows.	One SAS data set.
Columns	Relabeling, renaming, reordering, transforming, and combining columns. Additional processes enable you to change column length and compute a variety of statistics for those columns.	One or two SAS data sets, depending on the process. A few require an EDDS.
Import/Export	Importing and saving files of various types to SAS data sets, and exporting SAS data sets to other formats.	Varies by process. See individual process descriptions for details.
