Category Variable

Specify a character variable containing annotation categories. This variable is often obtained from an ontology hierarchy like the Gene Ontology (GO) or from lists of pathways. Note the following:

•	Multiple categories within a value must be separated by one or two common delimiters.

•	If a row has a blank value for a variable, then that row is excluded from the analysis for that set of annotation categories.

•	If this variable is not in the Input SAS Data Set , then you must specify it in the Annotation SAS Data Set on the Annotation tab.

To Specify Category Variables:

Specify an Input SAS Data Set .

The Available Variables field is populated with variables from the specified data set.

Highlight a variable from the Available Variables field.

Click to add the selected variable to the Category Variable field.
