Gene Start Variable

Use this field to specify the variable containing the start position of each gene.

Important : The gene start and stop variables must be on the same scale as the Location Variable specified on the General tab. A SNP whose location is between the gene start and stop values is assigned the corresponding gene label for the _AnalysisGroup_ variable. If the gene start position is greater than the gene stop position, these values are switched for that gene. There can be no more than two overlapping genes (including the area between the start and stop values specified here plus the distance value specified below) at a location.

To Specify a Gene Start Variable:

Specify the Gene Input SAS Data Set .

All of the variables in the specified data set are displayed in the Available Variables field.

Examine the list of available variables.

Highlight the variable listing the starting positions of the genes.

Click to add the highlighted variable to the Gene Start Variable field, as shown below:
