Number of Groups for Rank Method GROUPS

When the GROUPS Rank Method has been specified, this option collapses the ranks into a fixed number of groups, numbered from 0 to the number that you specify, minus 1. The resulting groups should be of approximately equal size, depending on total number of values and ties.

Examples : Specify 100 for percentiles , 10 for deciles, and 4 for quartiles. In the case of 4 , the original values are partitioned into four groups, with the smallest values receiving a quartile value of 0, and the largest values receiving a quartile value of 3.

To Specify a Different Number of Groups:

Either type a new number into the text box, or use the slider to select the number that you desire.

Tip : To change the scale of the slider, right-click on the slider and select Rescale Slider from the pop-up menu. Change the upper or lower boundaries in the window that appears, to rescale the slider and click OK .
