Trait Variables

Use this field to specify trait variables to be tested for association with the marker variables .

Specific types of trait variables might be required, depending on the process that you are running.

Note : If you select more than one trait variable, they must all be of the same type (binary, for example).

The table below lists process-specific requirements:

Process	Trait Requirements 1
Case-Control Association	The traits must be binary . Note : If the Dominant, Recessive, and/or MAX tests are selected on the Options tab, the trait variables must be numeric with values 0 and 1.
Genetics Q-K Analysis Workflow	Binary, continuous , and ordinal traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
Genetics Rare Variants Workflow	Binary, continuous, count, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
Haplotype Trend Regression	Binary, continuous, count, nominal, ordinal, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
QTL IM, CIM and MIM Analysis	The traits must be continuous.
Imputed SNP-Trait Association	Binary, continuous, count, nominal, ordinal, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
Marker-Trait Association	Binary, continuous, count, nominal, ordinal, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
Multiple SNP-Trait Association	Binary, continuous, count, nominal, ordinal, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
PCA for Population Stratification	The traits must either be numeric binary or continuous.
Q-K Mixed Model	Binary, continuous, and ordinal, traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
QTL Single Marker Analysis	The traits must be continuous.
SNP-SNP Interactions	Binary, continuous, count, nominal, ordinal, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
SNP-Trait Association	Binary, continuous, count, nominal, ordinal, and survival traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
Survey SNP-Trait Association	Binary, continuous, nominal, and ordinal traits are all valid. Specify the trait type using the Type of Trait drop-down menu.
TDT	The traits must be binary.

To Specify One or More Trait Variables:

Specify the Input SAS Data Set .

All of the variables in the specified data set are displayed in the Available Variables field.

Examine the list of available variables.

Highlight the desired variables. Left-click a single variable, or hold down Ctrl while left-clicking multiple variables.

Click to add the highlighted variable to the Trait Variables field, as shown below:
