In this example, you examine data adapted from a study of the drug Nicardipine in the United States. You are interested in the counts of adverse reactions in each part of the body for the drug versus the placebo, but you want to count each adverse reaction only once per patient.
1. Select Help > Sample Data Folder and open Nicardipine.jmp.
2. Select Analyze > Tabulate.
3. Select Cases and drag it into the Drop zone for columns.
4. Select Body System or Organ Class and drag it to the blank cell on the left side of the table.
5. Select Description of Planned Arm and drag it to the left of the Body System or Organ Class column.
At this point, the table contains the number of adverse events in each body system or organ class, grouped by drug versus placebo. However, you are interested in the number of unique patients that had an adverse event in each body system or organ class.
6. Select Unique Subject Identifier and drag it to the ID column role.
7. Click Done.
Figure 9.26 Tabulate Report with a Unique ID ColumnĀ
The table shows the number of patients who experienced an adverse event in each body system or organ class for either the drug or the placebo treatment. For instance, there were 696 patients that were given the drug treatment and reported at least one adverse event in the blood and lymphatic system.
