Design Generation

In the Screening Design platform, when you construct a mixed-level screening design, you can specify the design construction type and the number of runs in the Design Generation section. Select the construction type based on the number of runs that you can afford and the goals of your design. To generate the design, click Make Design.

Construction Type

Select a construction type for your design.

Number of Runs must be a multiple of 2

Use when you can afford only a number of runs that is close to the number of factors. Main effects in the design might have small correlations with second-order effects. This limits your ability to estimate second-order effects.

Number of Runs must be a multiple of 8

Use when you can afford more runs than the number of factors. Main effects in the design are orthogonal to the second-order effects from three-level continuous factors. This allows for estimation of some second-order effects.

Number of Runs must be a multiple of 16

Use when you are not limited on the number of runs that you can use. Main effects in the design are orthogonal to groups of second-order effects. Use subject matter knowledge to assign factors to groups to minimize the confounding of factors that are thought to interact.

Number of Runs

Specify the number of runs for your design. The selections available depend on the design construction and the design factors.
