Model

Specify the model on the Model tab of the Easy DOE platform. This model is your best guess of the factors and interactions that you think are most important. Model types that are incompatible with your design factors are grayed out. There are four model types in the guided mode to choose from:

Main Effects (Screen Factors)

The model assumes that the variability in your responses is explained by the sum of the one or more of the individual factors. This is the simplest model type. The design is a custom design.

Main Effects with some Two-Factor Interactions

The model estimates the main effects such that they are not biased by potential interaction effects. The design is a definitive screening design.

Main Effects and Two-Factor Interactions

The model includes all main effects and two-factor interactions. The design is custom design.

All Main Effects, Two-Factor Interactions, and Quadratics (Response Surface Design)

The model assumes that one or more factors has a non-linear effect on the response. The model has main effects, interactions, and quadratic terms. Use a response surface design to optimize process settings. The design is a custom design.

Note: Flexible Mode enables model specification as in the Custom Design platform. See “Model”.

The default Number of Runs for each model represent a balance between economy (minimize runs) and estimation (maximize runs). Make changes as needed. If you enter a number of runs below the minimum number required, JMP adjusts the number to the minimum.
