The Frequencies Report

The Frequencies report in the Distribution platform is available for nominal, ordinal and multiple response variables. The content of the report is determined by the modeling type of the variable.

Nominal and Ordinal Variables

For nominal and ordinal variables, the Frequencies report lists the levels of the variables, along with the associated frequency of occurrence and probabilities.

For each level of a categorical (nominal or ordinal) variable, the Frequencies report contains the information described in the following list. Missing values are omitted from the analysis.

Tip: Click a value in the Frequencies report to select the corresponding data in the histogram and data table.

Level

Lists each value found for the response variable.

Count

The number of rows found for each level of the response variable. If you specified a Freq variable, the Count is the sum of the Freq variables for each level of the response variable.

Prob

The proportion of occurrences for each level of the response variable. The probability is computed as the count divided by the total frequency of the variable, which is shown at the bottom of the table.

StdErr Prob

The standard error of the probabilities. This column might be hidden. To show the column, right-click in the table and select Columns > StdErr Prob.

Cum Prob

The cumulative sum of the column of probabilities. This column might be hidden. To show the column, right-click in the table and select Columns > Cum Prob.

Note: The number of observations that contain a missing value and the number of unique levels are reported below the table.

Multiple Response Variables

For multiple response variables, the Frequencies report contains three tables that summarize the distribution of the multiple response variable.

The first table contains the information described in the following list. Missing values are omitted from the analysis.

Level

Lists each value found for the response variable.

Count

The number of rows that contain each level of the response variable. If you specified a Freq variable, the Count is the sum of the Freq variables for the rows that contain each level of the response variable.

Share of Responses

The proportion of occurrences for each level of the response variable. This is the Count divided by the Total Responses.

Rate Per Case

The proportion of observations that contain each level of the response variable. This is the Count divided by the Total Cases.

The remaining tables contain the following count statistics:

Total Cases

The number of observations.

Total Responses

The number of responses over all the rows. This count sums the number of responses for each level of the multiple response variable.

Levels

The number of unique levels of the response variable.

Empty

The number of observations with no values in the response variable. If you specified a Freq variable, there is an additional column for Frequencies that incorporates the values in the Freq variable.

Responding

The number of observations with at least one value in the response variable. If you specified a Freq variable, there is an additional column for Frequencies that incorporates the values in the Freq variable.

Single Item

The number of observations with exactly one value in the response variable. If you specified a Freq variable, there is an additional column for Frequencies that incorporates the values in the Freq variable.

Multiple Item

The number of observations with more than one value in the response variable. If you specified a Freq variable, there is an additional column for Frequencies that incorporates the values in the Freq variable.
