Volcano Plot

Solcano plots are used to investigate differences between the groups. In this plot, negative log10 p-values for individual points (m/z values) are plotted versus the differences between the two groups. Portions of the spectra showing little difference cluster along the vertical line above 0 (in other words there are little or no differences between the groups). Portions of the spectra where differences between the groups exist are shifted to the left or to the right.
You can use the lasso tool to select a rectangular region containing points of interest. The rows containing these points are highlighted in the output data set. You can use Tables > Subset in JMP to generate a subset data set containing only these rows that can be subjected to further analysis.
